Twitter Space, Thursday, October 2nd
October 2nd, 2025: Twitter Space event with PHAN and Air Support Project. Come join us and the Air Support Project folks for a “UN After Party” Twitter Space! We'll co-host with our good friends Sarah and Melissa from Air Support Project, and we'll chat about the event, the speakers, and what it means for the future of clean indoor air. It's happening at 5pm PT/8pm ET and we'd love to see you there!
Upcoming events
Every Saturday evening: Pandemic Pals meetings on Zoom. Every Saturday at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET, the Pandemic Collaborative hosts a Zoom call that is inclusive and welcoming to all COVID-conscious folks. They offer several breakout rooms based on age-groups, life situations, special interests, or just for general hanging out. Pandemic Pals Check their Google Document the day of the call for that week's Zoom link.
Every Monday & Sunday: Rising Hope meetings on Zoom. Rising Hope is a community of COVID-conscious folks that meet Monday evenings, plus Sunday mornings for church services. Contact them through their Reddit post.
Every Day: World Health Network meetings. The World Health Network is a public health non-profit organization that's done a terrific job in creating communities around public health issues. Check out their calendar to see if one of them fits your interests.
October 1st, 2025: California Clean Air Day. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to pledge to take actions to help clear the air, including taking transit, shopping local, and installing air monitors.
October 20th & 21st, 2025: 2025 Canadian Symposium on Long COVID, St John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Long COVID Web and Memorial University of Newfoundland will host the 2025 Canadian Symposium on Long COVID. ​Attend in-person or online. They're providing a discounted rate of $5 for those with lived Long COVID experience. Tickets are on sale now, and sales end on October 3rd at 7:29am Newfoundland time.
October 21st, 2025: Free in-person and online Atlantic Meetup as part of the 2025 Canadian Symposium. As part of the 2025 Canadian Symposium on Long COVID in St John's, NL, the organizers are hosting a free Canadian Atlantic provinces Meetup session on Tuesday, October 21st, at 7 am ET/8 am Atlantic time. This Meetup will be available in-person and online.
October 22nd, 2025: Rising Hope special Zoom meeting with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Dr. Gupta is a practicing cardiologist from York Cardiology and currently has over 8,000 patients across the UK & Europe. His YouTube channel has over 520,000 subscribers. Along with cardiology, Dr. Gupta specializes in treating those suffering from Long COVID, POTS, Dysautonomia, & MCAD (Mast Cell Activation Disorder). On the Zoom call, on Wednesday, October 22nd at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET, he will be discussing Long COVID, Dysautonomia, POTS, as well as what treatments he is currently using for his patients. In his own words, “Long COVID has become an epidemic.” Following his talk, viewers will be free to ask him questions. They will be recording the Zoom meeting. October 31, 2025: Free in-person and online Long COVID, ME/CFS, and POTS event in Ann Arbor. The 2025 IACC Case Competition takes place at University of Michigan's Ross School of Business located at 701 Tappan Ave Ann Arbor MI 48109, Tauber Auditorium. It's free and they also have a virtual attendance option. Contact the organizers at iaccrosscasecomp@umich.edu for more information.

Sept. 17th, 2025: New biosensor device announced. A research team from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and Universitat de València (UV) says they have developed an innovative biosensor capable of detecting airborne viruses. This device operates in real time and at low cost, without the need for chemical markers or laboratory procedures. They developed the biosensor using the M13 virus as a proof of concept but say they work can be extrapolated to detect any airborne pathogen.
Sept. 23rd, 2025: The United Nations “Healthy Indoor Air” event took place as part of the General Assembly in New York City. The event brought clean-air experts and policy-makers from around the world to highlight projects and policies that are making a difference. A notable speaker was Violet Affleck, who spoke passionately as a youth advocate to say Long COVID is stealing young people's present. The organizers of the event announced a new Healthy Indoor Air pledge, and a new organization, Air Club, to help advocate for healthy indoor air policies. PHAN was a partnering organization for the event and is a signatory for the pledge. We're excited to be a part of this global movement for healthy indoor air where we can step up our advocacy and network with other organizations working around the world for the same goals.
Sept. 23rd, 2025: Indoor Air: An Overlooked Foundation of Public Health. From the Burnet Institute in Australia, one of the organizers of the Healthy Indoor Air event at the UN this week, this article talks about the growing awareness that clean indoor air is a public health issue on par with clean water and safe food.
Sept. 24th, 2025: U.S. adults experienced a sharp rise in memory and thinking problems over the past ten years. The rate of reported cognitive disability in the US rose from 5.3% in 2013 to 7.4% in 2023.
Sept. 25th, 2025: Sanofi’s Novavax/Nuvaxovid webpage for Healthcare Professionals is now live. It includes a link to the new patient website, http://Nuvaxovid.com, which has not been activated yet, as well as a product locator at http://nuvaxovid.com/vaccine-locator, which is also not active just yet. Sanofi has said that the locator should go live around the end of next week.
Sept. 26th, 2025: South Carolina reports its fourth measles case this year. The South Carolina Department of Public Health said this patient was not vaccinated, and this case comes as the number of unvaccinated residents in the state appears to be growing.
Sept. 26, 2025: New Mexico declares its measles outbreak is over. The outbreak started on Feb. 14 in Lea County and the last cases were reported in Santa Fe County on Aug. 14, the NMDOH said. Public health authorities consider a measles outbreak over when 42 days pass without new cases, a timeframe that represents twice the virus’ maximum incubation period.
